At MLA Web Designs we are proud to be presenting at the launch event of Fix It Mate the UK’s first emergency repair app. After spending a lot of time doing market research and many hours spent developing, we are ready to go live and present the app at the launch event on Thursday the 27th of March in The Kings Head, 1 The Green, Winchmore Hill, London N21 1BB.

The app is the first app in the market for emergency trades. If you wake up to a leak at 2am in the morning with water flooding down from your ceiling, who are you going to call? How do you find someone? Well with the Fix It Mate app you don’t need to worry. You can install it on your phone, sign up to create and account and it will search for the specific available tradesman you need. It will connect you on the app and you can track how long it will take for them to arrive at your door.

The app handles everything so that you don’t need to worry. No matter what your emergency in the home you can find the specific trade you need, book them and then see how long they will be on the map.

Fix It Mate is the one stop app for all emergencies and so it has been a great privilege for MLA Web Designs to have designed and built the website and then also designed and built the apps. The app is broken into two one for the trades and one for the customers.

We are really looking forward to launching the app at the event and showing people what it does. MLA is a bespoke web design agency in London and also doing Phone app development.

What are the Most Important Factors for London Web Design?

1. Your Websites Purpose

The first thing to an effective website is to understand the purpose. Having a crystal clear purpose on all pages will really assist a user in their journey. Define your purpose is it a brochure website? Is it to sell goods? Is it for entertainment purposes? There are many different purposes to a website, the most common are below;

1. Showcasing your expertise/services
2. Promoting and growing your name and brand
3. A lead generation tool
4. Making sales and engaging with visitors

2. Simplicity

The simplicity of a website can really make a difference to how people interact with it and how easy it is for people to use.

1.The colours

Finding colours that match your brand really have an effect of how people will engage with your brand. Colours can cause different feelings and responses from people and are able to help communicate very different messages. You do not want to use too many colours on a page and using colours that really compliment each other can be very effective. Specific colour combos can improve visitor engagement and make people feel happier.

2. Fonts

The type of font that you use on your website is very important, it stands out powerfully creating the visual understanding of your brand. Fonts must be easily readable and make sure not to use more than 2 different fonts on your website, maximum

3.Images

Imagery has such a key roll to play inside the communication of your website. From the general images of the website to any custom-made illustrations and all graphics are continually conveying the website brand and business image. Using high quality images is essential to creating a visitors first impression and dictates the professionalism and authenticity of the business in users minds.

3. Site Navigation

Clear and effective navigation is key to keeping visitors on your website and helping them find what they are looking for in the shortest time possible. Poor navigation is one of the most popular reasons that visitors click out of the website and go elsewhere to find what they want. Navigation should be clear and simple and very intuitive to create a good user experience for visitors.

4. Wireframes

Wireframe can be classed as a web designer brainstorming, and this gives the ability to sketch out the layout of the website, defining the elements and usability of the site. Wireframes are not really about design but how to structure the information and layouts within.

5. Grid Based Layouts

Using grids assists in creating structure to your designs and really keeping everything organised on the page. It helps you to keep the layouts clean and to align all the elements effectively. It really helps to create a clean and rigid structure to your layout, allowing you to use columns, the ability to line up different sections to create that balanced feel and a stylish and fresh website.

6. Content

For a website to be fully effective it needs to incorporate good content within the design. Powerful and enrolling copy can really pull visitors in and create enough influence to turn them into customers.

7. Mobile Responsive Layouts

Creating responsive layouts with designs is now becoming essential with over 50% of people surfing the net via mobile phones or tablets. It is now important to have both separate mobile and tablet designs as well as the desktop version.

Correct Website Layouts

Laying out your website correctly is one of the most overlooked yet essential elements to not only good website design but ultimately whether your website will achieve you success or not. So many peoples websites are not working for them and often or not it is because the information is laid out poorly, or worse, not findable at all.

correct website layoutsEvery site should be built for a specific purpose, and if your website has one main service you should make that be found easily using your navbar featuring drop down menus, image drop down menus, sliders, product boxes below etc. In this featured image we used a drop down image menu to showcase the clients different courses to make it simple and easy for visitors to find what they want without having to look hard on the site for it.

Keep visitors on your site

This way the visitors stay on your site will flow directly to what they came searching for and will much more likely result in you making more sales or growing more leads from your website.

Arriving on a poorly laid out website is no different from you entering in a shop and finding everything piled on top of everything else and needing to search through for what you want. If you can’t see it in a quick glimpse you will go elsewhere to find what you need. Don’t let your website become clutter and let your website work for you and be the effective sales machine you want.

Why It’s Essential To Have Mobile Responsive Websites

Mobile Responsive Websites

Contrary to popular belief, most websites online are actually not mobile responsive. To explain to you what mobile responsive is, basically your website needs to be able to adjust how it displays to varying sizes of screens that it is being viewed on. So some people will be on a large screen like 20″ some on a 14″ screen going down to tablets of 7″ and phones down to 4 or 5″ screens. If someone on a mobile view a site designed for a large screen it won’t display properly and they will be given scroll bars to scroll left and right.

So Why Is it Essential For Your Website To Be Mobile Responsive

Nowadays it is said that 50% or more people searching online are actually on a mobile phone or a tablet. This figure is also supposed to increase in the coming years as mobiles improve and more people acquire android and iphone devices. So if your website is not responsive the viewer will end up just clicking the back button and searching for someone else that provides the same service as you. Your website has to be up with the times or it will end up becoming extinct for visitors and your online profits or lead generations will severely drop.

If you are interested in turning your website mobile responsive but are not sure how or what it entails please use the contact form here or alternatively give me (Marc) a call on 0203 823 9033 and I will be happy to explain to you everything you need to know about the process. website redesign

Why Should You Redesign Your Website

Website Redesigns

Many people feel that once they have a website online that will be sufficient for their business. The problem is that your website is a reflection of your business, and the number of clients we get coming to us with poorly designed websites or sites with slow loading times is shocking. When a web visitor lands on your website he or she will take 2 to 3 seconds to judge whether they want to stay on your site or click the back button and continue searching for the same service or information elsewhere. Your website is part of your brand and a professional website can instill some trust and give the feeling that you are an authority in your field

What does a website redesign achieve?

We have redesigned many websites for clients that have reported a great increase from their online revenues or online lead generations. We have improved their visitor times (how long someone stays on their site) and also the number of pages they view. But the bottom line is if you want to earn more money from your website (which is clearly why you have one) then you need a professional custom designed site that represents your business in an effective and accurate manner.

If your thinking about getting a website redesign but aren’t sure what you should be aiming for or what it entails then either use the contact form here to get some advice or just call us on 0203 823 9033 and we will be happy to discuss and advise you accordingly with no commitments. But my final note is to make sure your website reflects you and your business effectively and make it a positive part of your overall business.
